Digestion

When you swallow food, muscles contract to move the food along through the digestive tract in a wave-like motion.  This muscle movement is called peristalsis.  Students demonstrate this by squeezing toothpaste out of a tube.

Watch what happens when a small piece of raw liver is added to a small amount of hydrogen peroxide.  Food is chemically breaking down for digestion.
